Laboratory Animal Management Unit

The Laboratory Animal Management Unit (Unit Pengelola Hewan Laboratorium / UPHL) is a technical implementation unit under the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS) IPB University based on the Dean’s Decree Number 183/IT3.2/KP/2012. The UPHL provides consultation regarding in vivo tests, experimental animals, laboratory animal cages, and other related services regarding the management of laboratory animals for academicians and other related agencies.

UPHL is committed to achieve the highest standards in:

  1. Quality, knowledge, expertise, and integrity of its staff and employees.
  2. Support innovation through continuous development in the field of research and technology.
  3. Providing related information based on the requests from researchers and students in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
  4. Providing high service standards to students, lecturers, and researchers related to in vivo tests.

Objective

Providing research services to the entire IPB University academician and other related institutions in implementing the three pillars of higher education through productive activities, especially in the research field.

Service Principes

Each laboratory personnel works independently, professionally, and free from the influence of commercial, financial, and internal or external pressures.

Services Offered

  1. Training in laboratory animal handling
  2. Provision of experimental animals and animal cages and their facilities
  3. Facilitate the ethical submission of the use of experimental animals
  4. Facilitate analysis of blood tests (routine blood test, chemical)
  5. Cadaver incineration
  6. Facilitation of other further examinations for research purposes (HPLC, ultrasonography, x-ray, etc.).

  1. Crematorium 
  2. Cages for mice and rats and related supporting facilities
  3. Poultry pen and related supporting facilities 
  4. Cages for rabbits and related supporting facilities 
  5. Small ruminant (sheep/goat) stall and related supporting facilities 
  6. Cattle stalls and related supporting facilities
  • Community pest control institution
  • Technical staff of pesticide industries 
  • Personal related to environmental health management in transportation facilities, public buildings (hotels, hospitals, warehouses, restaurants, etc.), and industrial complex 
  • Personal related to implementing sanitation and pest control in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
