Bachelor of Veterinary Science

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science Study Program (BVS study program) is conducted for a study period of 4 (four) years and is an integral part of the Veterinary Professional Education Study Program (VPE study program).

The BVS is divided into two classes, namely the regular class and the international class. International classes use the language of instruction in English and students come from Indonesian and foreign citizens.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science Study Program are awarded the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.VSc or S.KH) degree. Furthermore, graduates of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program can proceed to the Veterinary Professional Education Study Program to obtain the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or drh.).

Learning is carried by out competency-based using various methods including Student Centered Learning and Problem-Based Learning.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Able to explain and apply biomedical sciences and technologies and categorize healthy and animal diseases, based on anatomical-physiological features, clinical symptoms, pathological changes, and laboratory diagnostic techniques appropriately.
  2. Able to explain the controls, eradication, and treatment of animal diseases and zoonoses, promotion of animal health and welfare and ensure the safety and quality of animal products appropriately.
  3. Mastering the concepts of animal anatomy, animal health, laboratory diagnostics, zoonotic diseases to work as researchers, educators, quality assurance, quality control, entrepreneurs, bureaucrats/government officials.
  4. Have a leadership spirit, entrepreneurial skills, able to communicate, be persistent, and be responsible for work independently or in groups, respect clients and work teams, and have high spirituality and commitment.


Curriculum

The curriculum for Veterinary Undergraduate Study Program and Veterinary Professional Education Study Program is prepared based on (1) the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), (2) the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), (3) the OIE Day 1 Graduate Competency from the World Animal Health Organization (the World Organization for Animal Health, WOAH), (4) the needs and input from stakeholders, and (5) the vision and mission of IPB University.

The curriculum for Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine is implemented in 8 semesters with a total of 158 credits.

Graduate

Undergraduate Veterinary Medicine students who have graduated will continue to the Veterinary Professional Education Study Program to become a veterinarian.
