ISOLASI DAN IDENTIFIKASI BAKTERI STREPTOCOCCUS EQUI PENYEBAB STRANGLES PADA KUDA
(Isolation and Identification Bacterium Streptococcus equi Causes Strangles in Horses)

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan keberadaan bakteri Streptococcus equi penyebab strangles pada kuda. Pemeriksaan dilakukan terhadap 20 sampel kuda yang diduga secara klinis terkena penyakit strangles. Kegiatan isolasi dan identifikasi bakteri dilakukan dengan metode kultur, pewarnaan Gram, uji katalase, dan uji gula-gula. Hasil yang didapatkan dari serangkaian uji untuk identifikasi bakteri Streptococcus equi terhadap 20 ekor kuda yang diduga terkena strangles menunjukkan bahwa terdapat satu ekor kuda yang terinfeksi bakteri Streptococcus equi.

ABSTRACT
This research aims to prove the presence of the bacterium Streptococcus equi causes strangles in horses. Examination conducted on 20 samples of horses clinically suspected strangles disease. Isolation and identification of activities performed by the method of bacterial culture, Gram stain, catalase test, and sugar test. Results obtained from a series of tests to identify the bacteria Streptococcus equi of 20 horses there is one horse who infected Streptococcus equi.
