The new graduates of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS) IPB University took their oath as veterinarians in a ceremony held by the Senate of SVMBSon July 12, 2023. The ceremony was held at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) IPB University and live streamed on the YouTube channel SKHB IPB Official. The oath as veterinarian was taken from 96 newly graduated veterinarians from the 2022/2023 Academic Year Period 2 .
Dean of SVMBS IPB University Dr. drh. Amrozi said that veterinary graduates can contribute significantly to national development, especially in the veterinary field. Furthermore, Amrozi explained that veterinarians face many challenges, e. g. disease control, food safety, and environmental health . “It is very important for newly graduated veterinarians to reinforce their capacities, skills, and to use failure as an opportunity to learn. In light of this, I recommend that new veterinarians continue to learn and update their knowledge, since science and technology continue to advance,” said Amrozi.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) West Java II Branch, drh. Soenarti D. Waspada, M.Si, MARS invited new graduates to join the organization immediately. Moreover, Soenarti conveyed four aspects of veterinarian responsibilities, including providing animal health services (small, large, domestic, and wild animals); supporting the government in providing animal protein derived from eggs, meat, and milk; preventing zoonotic diseases; and educating the community on animal welfare.
“I would like to thank SVMBS IPB University for educating and preparing students to become veterinarians to strengthen veterinarians’ position in Indonesia. Hopefully the new veterinarians can pursue an excellent career and succeed in the future,” she concluded. (AP/DAR)
