General Lecture – Anesthesia, Analgesia, Life Quality, and Euthanasia in Animals

School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science (SVMBS) IPB University held a general lecture for its students, on May 20, 2023, located in the SVMBS Transformation Hall Room. Around 100 students from the 8th semester and the veterinarian program attended this lecture. The general lecture aimed to increase students’ knowledge regarding anesthesia, analgesia, quality of life, and euthanasia in animals.

The event was attended by the Vice Dean of Resources, Collaboration and Development SVMBS, Representative from PDHI, Chair of PIDHI, Principal Research in Animal Welfare, FarmedWell, Honorary Research Fellow, School of Human Sciences, University of Western Australia, Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, Murdoch University.

The speaker was Dr. Gabrielle Musk from Principal Research in Animal Welfare, FarmedWell , Australia who presented a lecture on “Veterinary Anesthesia, Analgesia, Quality of Life, and Euthanasia “. She explained the role of anesthetics and analgesics in animal welfare, the impact of anesthesia, and the ethical considerations of veterinary euthanasia. Her presentation was well-received by the audience.

Dr. drh. Andriyanto, M.Si, in his remarks thanked Sintesia Animalia Indonesia, Animal Australia and Farmed Well, so that this Public Lecture could be held successfully.

“The appropriate and accurate use of anesthesia and analgesia is crucial to animal welfare. It is a pleasure for us to be able to invite speakers from the top 100 universities in the world, in this case Murdoch University. This will enable us to enhance the accomplishments of our faculty, especially their academic reputation,” said Dr. Andriyanto.
